Hi there!
I am Sue Stokes-Nash, an Autism Consultant helping parents navigate the world of Autism.
I support parents whose children have been diagnosed with Autism. It may be a recent formal diagnosis, one you’ve known about and have been processing for some time, or possibly a diagnosis you suspect. Families I support are typically entering a whole new world and now need strategies and coaching to get through an overwhelming number of unexpected, emotionally-charged decision-making processes.
How do I know about this experience? I am a mom to 2 amazing boys. When my son was diagnosed with Autism a few days after his 3rd birthday, I was devastated. Talking to other parents whose children had Autism made the pit in my stomach go away briefly. I wanted to speak to them every day. These other parents knew exactly how I felt. They could relate to me in a way that no one else could – we shared a common bond. It felt like “therapy” talking to them. They shared which Autism therapies their child had done or were doing. I wanted to talk to them about every new book and every new therapy that I had heard about. But because they are parents and have their own lives, I knew that I couldn’t keep calling them for advice or an understanding shoulder to cry on. I would have felt I was imposing on them and their time. They were in a parent role and not offering their advice, etc. as a service. This is why I started my own business – I offer the consistent type of support you can rely on. I am here to serve you as a peer in a professional role.
I offer the niche specialty of a parent’s perspective – filling a void that is missing in support of both families and professionals. I have real life experience with Autism, I live it every day, day in and day out.
My goal is to help parents navigate the Autism maze and provide a parent’s perspective of Autism to professionals.
My credentials:
- Certified Coach Practitioner Certificate from the Certified Coaches Federation.
